James "Jim" Lee Sechrist
June 3, 1948 - September 15, 2025
James Lee "Jim" Sechrist, 77, of Salem, Indiana, met his Lord and Savior, on September 15, 2025 at Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville, KY.
Jim was born on June 3, 1948, in Warsaw, Indiana the son of Lamarr and Evelyn Sechrist.
He married Helen A. Welborn on November 10, 1968 and they would welcome three children: Monica, Monty and Marlin. They treasured almost 33 years together before her passing in 2001.
Jim served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was a helicopter mechanic and was Honorably Discharged. He was a tour bus team driver for Grace College in Winona Lake. He also was a former employee of Davis Equipment and Salem Auto Parts in Salem, Indiana.
On May 24, 2003, he married Marilyn Potter Sechrist. Jim loved hunting, fishing, fixing tractors and other small equipment. He also enjoyed seeing the country on his Goldwing motorcycle.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marylin; his children: Monica Turner of Syracuse, Monty (Lori) Sechrist of Leesburg, and Marlin (Michelle) Sechrist of Indianapolis; stepson, Travis (Jessice) Hampton; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters: Joann Saltzgiver, June Klotz, Janice Fountain, and Jerrilyn Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, late wife Helen, and sister, Judy Sechrist.
A visitation and funeral were held on September 15, 2025 at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem, Indiana with Military Honors. Per his wishes, cremation followed.
A graveside service to lay him to rest next to his first wife, Helen, will be held at 12:00 pm. on Friday, October 31, 2025 in Stony Point Cemetery in Clunette, Indiana with Pastor Rafael Caudillo officiating.
