James "Jim" Spencer Obituary

He began working in the grocery business at the age of 14 for Humpty Dumpty and continued his career in the food industry. In 1 987, he purchased his first store, Spencer's, in Newcastle. He was well known for his community support.
Jim served as a member of the Oklahoma Food Brokers, President of Allied Food Club and chairman of the Oklahoma Grocers' Association.
He loved sports, especially OSU/OU and the OKC Thunder; he also loved to travel, play golf and spend time with family and friends.
Jim was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mustang, where he served on the Finance Committee, and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Angel Fire, NM.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dana, of 67 years; daughter, Sherrie Allen (Mitch) of Cogar, son, James "Spud" Spencer Jr (Sharon) of Cogar; grandchildren Shawn Allen of Yukon, Shane Allen (Stephanie) of Wayne, Chace Spencer (Melissa) of Mustang, Ashley Jackson of Yukon, Justin Spencer (Brooke) of Blanchard; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Franklin (George) of Glenpool, and Flora Caruthers (Kent) of Oklahoma City; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Spencer.
