James "Jim" B. Sturm

James “Jim” Sturm of Lake Crystal passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025 at the age of 77. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation 1 hour prior at the Catholic Church of St. Paul in Nicollet, MN.

Jim was born on January 18, 1948 to Alphonse and Anna (Sussner) Sturm in Clarkfield, MN. He graduated from Minneota High School and was drafted into the Army in 1969, where he spent much of the next two years stationed in Germany. After returning home, Jim attended Mankato Area Vo Tech and received an associates degree in Auto Mechanics. Jim held several jobs including being a mechanic, truck driving and working in production until retiring from Kato Engineering.

Jim loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and working on his motorcycles and cars. Telling jokes, even some a bit shady and laughing again was an endearing part of his personality. He also was very generous with his time and talents - helping others, fixing almost anything, and expecting nothing in return.

Left to remember Jim are his sisters Terri (Gordy) Compton of North Mankato, Carol (Steve) Sonnek of Cologne, Louise (Paul) Sturm Hendrycks of Mankato, brother Fran (JoAnn) of Minneota and Brother- in-law John “Butch” Morgan, Sister in-law Juliann Sturm, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Agnes Morgan, and his brother Gerard Sturm.

Memorials are preferred to the Catholic Church of St. Paul in Nicollet.
