James “Jimmy” Louis McKenney, 60, of Sabetha, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his home.
Jimmy was born on July 17, 1965, in Sabetha, Kansas, to James McKenney and Vera Creutzmeyer McKenney. Jimmy served in the United States Army. On February 22, 1990, Jimmy married Cassie Anne Wheeler in Fairview, Kansas. Jimmy and Cassie had two children, Katie and Calvin.
Jimmy worked at a dog food plant in Bern, Kansas, and at Schendel Pest Control in Seneca, Kansas.
Jimmy had many interests, including riding his Harley motorcycle and collecting various items. He valued time with his grandchildren and looked forward to their nightly phone calls to hear about their day. He took great pride in watching his nieces and nephews grow up. Jimmy also liked watching wrestling, visiting the VFW to enjoy a Coca-Cola and play pool, and dining out with his son and sisters. He cherished time with loved ones and considered his many friends like family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cassie, on July 23, 2016; his brother-in-law, Rob Wheeler, and many friends.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Katie (Chris) Lanter of Everest, Kansas; his son, Calvin McKenney of Sabetha; his two beautiful granddaughters, Khloe and Harper; his sisters, Debbie (Danny) White of Silver Lake, Kansas, Tami Haffner (Kim Meister) of Sabetha, Shari (Dale) Williams of Canton, Kansas; his sister-in-law, Deborah (John) Mikles of Owasso, Oklahoma; his nieces and nephews; his great-nieces and nephews; his cousins; and his friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
