James Lee Johnson, 18, of Bagley, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly due to an automobile accident on Monday, September 1, 2025, in Bagley, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Bagley High School in Bagley, Minnesota. Visitation will be held two hours prior, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley is assisting the family with arrangements.
James Lee Johnson was born on July 6, 2007 in Bemidji, Minnesota. James was a senior at Bagley High School and was loved by all who knew him. James had a passion for sports, especially football, basketball, baseball, and golf. He loved every holiday, mostly because it meant sharing good food with family and friends. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, James was always the "big joker" - the funnier he could be, the more he enjoyed standing out. As his grandpa fondly said, "He was a legend in his own mind."
James enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially deer and bird hunting with friends, and tractor pulls at Pioneer Farmers with his grandpa. He worked at DaRoo's Pizza and also helped with roofing for Darin Halvorson. No matter what he did, James gave his best and truly was the best at everything.
He cherished time with his girlfriend, Sadie Larson, whom he loved, adored, and treasured spending time with.
James is survived by his parents, Ruben and Rachel Johnson; siblings, Kyle (Cecilia) Johnson, Layne Johnson, Kendra Johnson, and Christian Dudley; niece, Elenor Johnson; grandparents, Jim and Linda Erickson, Lois LaFerriere, and Margaret Ann Johnson; girlfriend, Sadie Larson; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jim LaFerriere and Ruben Johnson Sr.; uncle, Mike LaFerriere; aunts, Angie Johnson and Mary Jo LaFerriere; and cousin, Grace LaFerriere.
