James Allen Ketcherside of Dibble, Oklahoma, was called Home to the Lord on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the age of 64. James was born on December 23, 1958, to Jimmy Gene Ketcherside and Betty Lou (Rainbolt) Ketcherside.
James grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Classen High School. He was an outgoing, friendly guy with a notoriously ornery streak. Though he could be a prankster at times, James was always blunt, honest, and straightforward with everyone in his life. He was the kind of man who would do anything in his power to help anyone in need.
He spent most of his working career in furniture repair and enjoyed working for Plugge's Upholstery & Furniture Inc. where he was a talented upholsterer. James grew up in the Baptist faith and his first love was always his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The other great love of his life was his family. His children, grandchildren, and later, great-grandchildren, were his ultimate pride and joy, and James enjoyed nothing more than spending time with those he loved. He especially treasured the times when the whole family could be together - James liked to use any excuse to arrange a big family gathering.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, especially at Mountain Lake in Ardmore. He loved to be outside and enjoyed birdwatching, exploring different lakes and fishing holes, and working in his flower beds when he was at home. When he wasn't enjoying himself somewhere in the great outdoors, he liked watching Law and Order, American Pickers, Fast and Loud, and westerns, especially anything featuring John Wayne. James' outgoing, affectionate personality and his love for family will never be forgotten, and he will be very deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Betty Ketcherside, one sister, Connie Jones, and a brother, Rick Ketcherside.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Amy Lowe and husband Kendall of Hennessey, Oklahoma, and Jamie Hernandez and husband Federico of Purcell, Oklahoma. James is also survived by three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of loving extended family, and many dear and loyal friends.
