James F. "Jim" Kimmons, Sr., CPA, 76, of Eastman, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Regency Hospital Center in Macon, GA. He was born July 31, 1948 to the late Maggie Mariah McCranie and Jacob Felix Kimmons. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Hardy-Towns Funeral home with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Hardy-Towns Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Jim received his BS degree in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting from Georgia Southwestern College and State University and had been in the accounting industry since 1971, including three years as a Controller for a Federal grantee prior to entering public accounting; four years' experience as audit manager, of which one year was as partner with a multi-office statewide local firm. Jim has been the owner and senior partner of a local CPA firm since 1977.
Jim was an active member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Georgia Society of CPAs, the Government Finance Officers Association and the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association. He served for twenty years as a member of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Georgia Society of CPAs. Additional Georgia Society of CPA committees that Kimmons served on include the Accounting and Auditing Practice Review Committee, the Federal Legislative subcommittee of the Taxation Committee, and for six years on the On-Site and Off-Site Peer Review Committees.
Jim served a three-year term on the American Institute of CPAs Private Companies Practice Executive Committee (a senior committee of the AICPA charged with the responsibility of overseeing the Private Companies Practice Section). He is also a former AICPA Key Person Contact for the AICPA's Washington, D.C. office. While serving on the AICPA Private Companies Practice Executive Committee, Mr. Kimmons was Chairman of the TEAM and SET Task Force for the nation.
Jim was active in civic and professional activities. A native of Eastman, Georgia, he is Past President of the Eastman Rotary Club, Past President of the Dodge County Shrine Club, Past Master of Eugene Smith Masonic Lodge, was a member of the Macon Consistency of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Al Sihah Shrine Temple, and the First Baptist Church of Eastman.
He is survived by his wife Linda Sue Kimmons, brother Royce Kimmons, sister Billie Carol Chkoreff, sister Faye Daniel; children James Felix Kimmons, Jr, Keith Henry Kimmons (Lori), Linda Maria Harmon (Justin), and Susan Rene Lockhart (Israel), grandchildren James Felix Kimmons, III, Peggy Linda Waller (Anthony), Keith Henry Kimmons, II (Alexia), and Chastain Mishael Henney (Matthew), great-grandchildren Jaxson Henney and Alessandra Henney.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jacob Felix Kimmons, Jr.
In leiu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriner's Children's Hospitals.

I am so sorry to learn of Jim´s passing.
He was a dear friend and advisor.
I´ve never known a smarter or more loyal friend. I shall miss him.
