James W. Knoebel, 91, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital.

James was born on May 18, 1933, to Walter and Bertha Knoebel in Sheboygan.

James served his country in the US Army from 1956-1959. He had a passion for trap shooting, and loved hunting, especially pheasant hunting. James was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and enjoyed watching old westerns.

James is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Susan; children Karen (Derrick) Yahnke, Rick (Brenda) Knoebel, Mary Jo Knoebel; grandchildren: Sarah (Tyler) Abel and Jesse (Nichole DenBoer) Schaller, Brian (Alyssa) Knoebel, Shaun (Jenna) Knoebel, Sandra (Renee) McGowan, Stephanie Kuhn, Shannon Perry, Jackie Yahnke; great-grandchildren: Jordy and Camden Abel and Gracelynn and Evelynn Schaller, Miles and Isabelle Knoebel, Preston and Louie Knoebel, Trinity Perry; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Jeffrey Schaller, grandchild Angela Kuhn, brother Gordon Knoebel, and sister Mildred (Don).

A private family ceremony will take place at a later date.

James’ family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care.
