James Norman Krider, Sr. of Clemson, SC went to join Jesus, his friend and Redeemer, early in the morning on December 11, 2022. Jim, who was born in Sanford Florida on August 26, 1936, was the son of the late John S. Krider Sr. and Sarah E. Krider. After growing up in Sanford and graduating from Seminole High School, he served honorably for 2 years in the U.S. Army. He began college at Stetson University on a football/baseball scholarship and transferred to the University of Florida where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Over the span of his 40-year career with the USDA Soil Conservation Service, he worked on many various civil and environmental engineering projects, traveling the United States and abroad. He retired in 1998 after finishing his work in Cairo, Egypt and moved his family to Clemson, SC where he made many close friends, and enjoyed increasing involvement in the community. Jim volunteered in the local schools, was a small group leader for Oconee Bible Study, and was active in children’s, men’s, mission’s, and Adopt-a-Student ministries of Clemson Presbyterian Church. His quick wit and mischievous nature brought joy and a smile to the faces of many, but most of all, he delighted to share his love for Jesus with those he met.
Surviving “Gentleman Jim” are his bride of 40 years, Carol F. Krider, and 3 children: James N. Krider Jr. (Anna) of PA, Elizabeth M. Deneka (Tom) of NJ and Matthew J. Krider (Alexis) of SC, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John S. Krider Jr. and wife Eloise, sisters-in-law, Judy Lueders and Jan Bennett, and brother-in-law, Lee Friesen.
A Celebration of Life Service for Jim will be held at Clemson Presbyterian Church on December 15, 2022. Visitation will begin at 1:00 with the service following at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Clemson Presbyterian Church, 346 Old Greenville Highway, Clemson, SC 29631 or to The Salvation Army, Pickens County, PO Box 2148, Easley, SC 29641.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what’s unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Jim served as a faithful member of the Community Bible Study group and the Oconee Bible Study. He served as a Group Leader and he was a great facilitator of God's Word and he loved mentoring men in the Scriptures. He identified so many men that eventually became Group leaders like him. Proverbs 27:17 is the verse i will remember Jim for ... By his friendship and encouragement, he "sharpened me" to become more like Jesus Christ. Don & Gerri Harper
