James Kupetz Obituary

He was born in Erie on November 25, 1944, a son of the late Joseph F. and Irene F. (Heidt) Kupetz.
Jimmy established Kupetz Brothers Construction Company in 1964 with his brother, Joe, and which he ran until retirement. He served on the board of the Summit Township Water Authority for over 30 years, including many as Chairman. He was a lifelong jokester who enjoyed nothing more than making people laugh. In his younger years he was a boxer, a hunter, and raced trikes. He had been involved with the Kearsarge Lion's Club and belonged to the Erie Maennerchor Club.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Gregory, and William and his grandson, Jacob Kupetz.
He is survived by his wife, Janis (Schuckers) Kupetz, his daughter, Nikole Medwig (Nathan), his son, Gregory Kupetz (Chelsea), his grandchildren, Emilia and Marco Medwig, and James and Juliette Kupetz, and his brothers, Ed and Gary Kupetz. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws also survive.
Friends may call on Thursday at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie PA 16502 from 3pm until 7pm. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday at 10am followed by the burial at Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Erie Humane Society.

Jim and Joe were customers of mine at National City Bank Summit Office. They always loved a good joke and had a smile on their faces. I always looked forward to seeing them .... Great guys! RIP

To the Family of Jim Kupetz,
We are so sorry for your loss.
My dad Al "Bucky" Trott was very close friends with Jim and Joe and Gary. They used to have my brother and I sit up in the back of the dump truck and shovel stone down into the chipper on jobs where they tarred and chipped roads and driveways. Gindy's Trailer park was a big job for them back in the late 60's early 70's. I used to bowl with Joe and my dad (and Tweed) later on at South Erie Turners. Jim was a great guy as you all well know. Our deepest sympathies...

Jim was a fun guy. We hung out a lot We were called the Cherry Street Ex. Guys . Jim & Joe had a Large Paper route. We spent a lot of time together at home a at McDowell . His brother Joe was also very nice ( God Bless you and your family
