James Kurczewski Obituary
James Kurczewski "Jimmy" September 23, 1935 – July 5, 2025
James "Jimmy" Kurczewski, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on September 23, 1935, to John and Stella Kurczewski, Jimmy graduated from North Division High School in 1954 and served honorably in the US Army and Army Reserves from 1958-1962. He went on to live a full life rooted in love, laughter, and deep community connections. He was the devoted husband of Eileen Kurczewski, his beloved partner for over 60 years.
Together, Jimmy and Eileen embraced life-collecting memories through travel, spending time with their family, and enjoying the company of many good friends. They built their dream home on Pewaukee Lake, where they have lived for over 38 years.
Jimmy was a proud father to Gregory Kurczewski and Kelly Zimmerman, and a cherished grandfather to Randy Smith and Eric Zimmerman. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter-in-law Natalie Kurczewski, granddaughter-in-law Emily Smith and his two treasured great-grandchildren, Weston and Scarlett.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Geraldine James, brother-in-law Lex Heffelfinger, and many nieces and nephews from the Kurczewski, Guardiola, Palok and Heffelfinger families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Stella Kurczewski; his sisters Grace Waalen, Adeline Arenas, and Judy Palok; and his brothers Phillip Kurczewski and David Kurczewski.
Jimmy worked as a dedicated salesman for Moore Oil Company for 24 years. Outside of work, he embraced life with passion and warmth. A longtime golfer, his close friends affectionately nicknamed him "Jimmy the Fox." Jimmy was a dedicated and beloved member of the USO, volunteering from 2013 to 2025. He loved working with the new recruits and was always offering them a joke, or a funny story followed with some good advice and support.
He regularly appeared in the local community theater scene-appearing in over 60 plays across five decades. His humor, charisma, and love for storytelling made every performance unforgettable.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the USO Wisconsin, in Jim's memory-a cause that meant a great deal to him.
