Loving father to Denise (Tom) Bishop, Linda (Dale) Helgerson, Dennis "Butch" (the late Robb) Bernitt, Jr., and Tammy (Steve) Gasper. Caring grandpa to Dana, Lissa (Matt), Theresa (Chris), Tiffany (Juan), and Joshua (Amanda). Dear great grandpa to Gavin, Nina, Emma, Makayla, Tyler, and Jacob.
Dennis graduated high school in 1957 from Wisconsin Lutheran. Dennis would serve his country after high school in the United States Navy. Dennis later became a jack-of-all-trades, who thoroughly enjoyed gardening and was proud of his immaculate lawn.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Zillah Bernitt, wife Prudence, grandson Corey Gasper and great grandson Juan Corey Cruz.
A special thank you to the Heritage Memory Care Center – Menomonee Falls staff for the excellent care and compassion shown to Dennis during his stay there.
Visitation to be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin, from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Funeral Service to begin at 12:00 PM. Interment at Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee.
