James "Jim" Lang, of Plover, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on February 10, 2025, at the age of 71.
Jim was born February 9, 1954, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI; son of the late Fred and Dolores (Duda) Lang. He grew up in the Stevens Point area, attending local schools, and graduated in 1972 from Stevens Point Area Senior High.
Following high school, Jim entered the workforce, working for various local businesses until opening his own business in 1992. He proudly owned and operated King Lube in Plover for over 30 years, working hard to serve the community with the help of hard-working and loyal employees.
On April 24, 1982, Jim married the love of his life, Mary Wojtalewicz. The two built a beautiful life together and welcomed three amazing daughters, Courtney, Nichole "Nikki", and Mallory. In time, their family grew with the addition of Courtney's K9 companion, Frank, Nikki's sons, Emmit and Isaac, and their father, Ryan, and Mallory's sons, Jayten and Gavin. Jim made sure his family knew how much he cared for them and often expressed this through nicknames. Nikki was known as "Nik", Emmit was called "Rocky", and Isaac was referred to as "Chopper". In fact, Jim had a nickname of his own; he was affectionately known as "Sarge" to many!
Jim found enjoyment in the outdoors, from pheasant hunting in South Dakota, to deer hunting, fishing, and even golf. When he wasn't enjoying the outdoors, the couch was Jim's favorite place to relax. Of course, he could be found watching a good western or maybe some football; especially his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. When Jim and Mary needed a little adventure in their life, they loved to head over to the casino or find a great fish fry.
No matter where Jim went, he always made friends. It was easy to like him, with his quick wit and great sense of humor. While he may have been short on patience, he was heavy on laughter and smiles. In fact, from a very young age on, he made friends who stayed in his life until his last day. Jim had numerous life long friends whom he will be missed by.
Jim is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary; his daughters, Courtney (and K9, Frank), Nikki (Ryan), and Mallory; his grandsons, Emmit, Isaac, Jayten, and Gavin; and his sister, Judy (Dave) Gervais.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dolores.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the amazing staff, doctors, and nurses with Aspirus Hospice and at the Aspirus Cancer Center. Your care and support to Jim and his family will never be forgotten.
A Life Celebration will be held for Jim at 6:00 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Shuda Plover Funeral Home - 2400 Plover Road, Plover, WI. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM until the time of celebration.
Shuda Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family.
