Funeral Service for James "Jim" Edward Lawson, Sr. will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, LA.
James E. Lawson Sr (Jim) a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away on July 03, 2025, at the age of 90. Known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and mechanical mind, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
After serving his country honorably for 20 years in the Air Force, Jim continued his career with Thomas Industries. Upon retiring, he pursued the quiet joys of life. He was an avid fisherman, often finding peace and reflection by the water's edge. He had a knack for fixing things and loved building motorized bicycles-combining creativity, skill, and a touch of adventure.
A friendly face at the local pool hall, Jim had a competitive streak and loved a good game of pool. More than anything, he valued time with family and friends, sharing stories and laughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Clara Lawson, his wife of 69 years Roslyn L. Lawson, Brothers Charles R. Lawson and wife Bettye, Larry L. Lawson, sons James E. Lawson Jr. and Mark E. Lawson, grandson Robert W. Steen Jr. and son-law Mike Lewis.
Survivors include his children, Valerie Steen, Laura Lewis, Karen Burke (Bennett); grandchildren, James E. Lawson, III (Crystal), Benjamin Lawson, Kenny Lawson (Hanna), Jennifer Steen, Lynn Zack (Ron), Tony Lawson (Theresa), Melanie Dillard (Clay), Nick Lawson, Ashley Thomas (Kent), David Walker (Kristi),Heather Rogers (Mark), Michaela Humble (Skyler), Morgan McPherson (Jake), Josie Barrientes (Darius), Declan Burke (Melissa), Sister-in Law B. J. Lawson. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Northeast Veteran Cemetery located in Rayville LA
