ASHEVILLE – James M. “Jim” Medford, age 75, of Asheville passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Jim was born on January 5, 1950, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Erwin High School and graduated from Mars Hill College with a B.S. Degree in Biology. He was a local businessman and realtor for over 50 years. Jim loved playing golf and watching College Football (Roll Tide). In his younger days he loved to hunt and fish. Most of all he was passionate about his family.
He was the son of the late John and Edna Rice Medford and husband of the late Kitty Garland Medford who died in 2003. He was also preceded in death by his son, Nicholas; sister, Helen Reece; brothers, John Junior Medford, Bobby Medford, Larry Medford, and Steve Medford.
Surviving are his daughters, Meredith Medford (Adam Hogan), and Megan Medford (Aaron Cody); brother, Horace Medford; brother and sister-in-law, Mike Garland and wife Janice; and Grandchildren, Harlow and Holland Cody.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Aaron LaFalce officiating. The family will greet friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.
