JAMES MADDEX
James Arthur Maddex, age 68, of Lincoln, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. He was born September 8, 1955 in Boonville, Missouri, a son of Rolla and Josephine (Griesbach) Maddex.
He was united in marriage to Sharon McDonald and she passed away in 2008. He later married Mary Gottfried and she passed away in 2019. He was married to Trudy Lynn Schnelle on July 16, 2022 in Lake Ozark, Missouri.
James was a graduate of Bunceton High School in the class of 1973. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he made his home in Oak Harbor, Washington. He ran an excavating and construction company while there. He returned to Missouri in 2002 and lived in Versailles and Tipton before moving to Lincoln.
James loved the outdoors, especially fishing, boating and hunting. He could be found watching cooking shows on television and then cooking tasty dishes. He was well-known in the dog show community and showed many beagles throughout the years. James and his brother, Hammy, enjoyed finding and working on many projects together.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy Schnelle of the home; his siblings, William Lee "Hammy" Maddex of Lincoln, Missouri and Grace Marie Scott and husband Lewis of Bunceton, Missouri; special friends D.J. Wells, Richard Ott and Dennis Miller; his beloved dog, Cooper and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sharon McDonald; his second wife, Mary Gottfried; a daughter, Trisha Dawn Maddex; a son, Timothy Maddex and a brother, Raymond Eugene Maddex.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Tipton Farmers and Sportsmens Club on Highway W in Fortuna, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the family home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
