James Marx Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services from Sep. 23 to Oct. 1, 2025.
SALEM - James Edwin Marx, affectionately known as Jim to his loved ones, passed away in Boardman, Ohio, on September 9, 2025.
Born on August 10, 1967, in Salem, Ohio, Jim's life was a testament to the enduring values of family, faith, and service to others.
Jim's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Atisha Marx, and a loving father to his daughters, Ashley (Bradley) Larson, Caitlyn Marx, and Madison Marx. His role as a grandfather to Matthew Larson was one he cherished deeply, and the bond he shared with his grandson was a source of immense joy. His bond with his family was unbreakable, and he took immense joy in supporting and celebrating each milestone with them. Jim's family circle extended to his brother, Bill Marx, and sister-in-law, Lisa Marx; his nephews, Dillon (Mackenzie) Marx and Jeff (Kaytee) Marx; and his great-niece, Isabella Marx. His in-laws, Frank and Janet Willis; brother-in-law, Frank Willis; sister and brother-in-law Miranda and Brian Mayle, and their children Connor, Makayla, Landon, and Leah, were an integral part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Marx; his mother, Sara Gale; and his younger brother, Tom Marx-all of whom he loved deeply and held close to his heart throughout his life.
Jim's commitment to education led him to pursue a bachelor's degree in business at Youngstown State University, a foundation that served him well throughout his career. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit were evident in his tenure at Stambaugh's, Lowe's, and Progressive Insurance, and culminated in his successful ownership of Westgate Pizza Company. His professional life was marked by integrity, hard work, and a warm camaraderie with his colleagues and employees.
A man of deep Christian faith, Jim lived his life in service to his beliefs. He found solace and strength in learning about the life of Jesus and was a guiding force for his wife and daughters in all walks of life. His gentle spirit and selfless nature were reflections of his religious convictions. Jim's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. He was a constant presence at his children's sporting and school events, proudly supporting them in every endeavor. Family vacations to the Outer Banks and the Oregon coast were cherished traditions, filled with laughter and love.
Above all, Jim was a loving, gentle, and selfless man. His patriotism was matched only by his kindness, and he was a gentle father who put the well-being of his family above all else. His legacy is one of love and generosity, and he will be remembered for the quiet strength he provided to everyone around him.
As we bid farewell to James Edwin Marx, we celebrate a life that was rich in love and abundant in the values that he held dear. He leaves behind a legacy of a life well-lived, one that will continue to inspire and guide his family and all who knew him. Jim's memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
Private services will be held and arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

I came in a few days before he passed and I asked him Abt business and how construction hurt him. I can see the stress in his eyes . He knew I didn't have much and gave me the pizza for cheaper. I just felt this feeling something going to happen! God blesses us with people that touch our lives like Jim did! Rest easy now Jim!

I love Jim. He was a great coworker and I've always considered him a friend. I just stopped at his store to see him and found out the sad news. Praying for his family like I have been for some time. May you all have a peace that passes understanding. God be with you all.
