James William Mason
James William Mason age 82 of the Bethel Community passed away Sunday July 27, 2025 at Oteen, NC.
Jim was raised in the Highland Park area of Canton and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp. Following his military service, he worked for Dayco, where he later retired. He was preceded in death by his parents William Thomas Mason and Hazel Cooper Mason; he is also preceded in death by his sister Jean Mason Carter.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Zachary Mason; his daughter Sherri Higginbotham and her husband Bruce; his son David Mason; two grandsons Lindsey Higginbotham and his wife Becca, and Steven Higginbotham; three great granddaughters Emily, Penelope, and Kathrynne; his nephew Martin Cater and his wife Camille and his niece Leslie Cater Brock.
A celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday July 31, 2025, in the Chapel of Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service with Chaplin Yoshiya Takahashi officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:00 am.
