He was born May 25, 1950 in Wheeling, WV to the late Calvin Sr & Ida Mae (Bassell) Maxwell.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Garrison Maxwell; his brother, Charles Maxwell; and brother-in-law, Clarence Farmer.
James is survived by his children, Kimberly (Joe) Stevey, James (Nicole) Maxwell, and Travis (Alyssa) Maxwell; his grandchildren, Breana (Travis) Davis, J.C. Maxwell, Logan Stevey, Chase Maxwell, Grey Maxwell; his great-grandchild, Ellie Davis; his brother, Calvin Jr (Shirley) Maxwell; his sister, Charlotte Farmer; and sister-in-law, Diane Maxwell.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm, at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St. Wheeling (304-242-2311). Service will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 11am, with Pastor Debra Dague officiating. Entombment to follow at Park View Memorial Gardens.
