James (Jay) Mckey of Abilene passed away Monday, November 14, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm Friday November 18,2022 at North's Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm at North's Funeral Home Thursday November 17, 2022.
James was born April 3, 1928 in Bucklin Kansas to Fern Smith and Frank McKey. In 1948 he married the love of his life, Emma Lou Cutbirth and moved to Texas. Jay and Emma Lou had two beautiful daughters, Cecelia and Cindy. Jay worked in the oilfield in Texas for thirty-five years. After the oilfield, Jay and Emma Lou opened Caps Grocery Store and ran the small town store for ten years. In his spare time he loved to travel. Jay and Emma Lou had a motor home they used to traveled the United States. Upon retirement, Jay enjoyed spending his free time with his grand kids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids.
James was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Mae, parents, Fern & Frank, his daughter, Cindy, and his loving wife, Emma Lou.
Left to cherish his memories are: daughter, Cecelia Williamson. Siblings, Rosalee Johnson, Wayne Mckey, Marlee Nonamaker and husband Rick. Grandkids, Cariel Williamson, Shelby Williamson and wife Jennifer. Great grandkids James Williamson and wife Adrienne, Shelby Williamson, Justice Kunkel and husband Ethan, Levi Williamson, Campbell Williamson, Katherine Williamson, and Christian Williamson. Great-great grandkids, Kira Williamson, Brilyn Kunkel, Braeden Williamson, Hayden Williamson, Cole Williamson, Ryan Williamson, Lyndrie Kunkel, and Natalie Williamson.
