Jim was an avid duplicate bridge player and I enjoyed our many games together at the Kalamazoo Bridge Center. He was always an analytical player, but always kind when I missed a signal or played a card inappropriately. He had been serious about his teaching and was respected as a dedicated teacher. I always enjoyed his sense of humor and it was an honor to have known him.

What a shocker that my Best Bud from Elementary and High School is gone! My heart aches. Oh the adventures we shared. I´m envious of the outstanding and versatile man you became. Love, Prayers and Sympathies to Jan, Katie, Derek and all of Jim´s family. The world is now a lesser place.

Jim and I were teachers at Hastings High School starting nearly the same year! We shared the corner hallway, me in the girls´ locker room and he, in his math room! We supervised the hallway there and would walk to the office to check our mail on our conference hour. Fun walks and conversations with him thru the years, a fun guy and teaching icon! He was always Charlie to me; I was Betty to him, our own nicknames we gave to each other! Rest well, Charlie, you will be missed!
