James Michael Obituary
He was born in Asheboro, North Carolina on September 8, 1953, and at the age of 19, he joined the US Air Force and honorably served his country earning several honors including the AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon and the AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon.
After his discharge, James worked as a security system technician for several years both in North Carolina and Kentucky, eventually retiring from Burdine Security in Lexington. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to Blues music and playing guitar & golf. Even though he lived in Kentucky, he was an avid UNC Tar Heels fan.
Survivors include: his wife, Sonia Hughes Michael; his mother, Barbara Bridgeman Presnell; his children, Christopher Michael (Bonnie), Tracy Little (Scot), Sharon Salomon (Santos) and Olivia Michael; his grandchildren, William Smith, Emma Little, Cora Little, Kalli Salomon, Sofia Salomon, Etzli Salomon, Izel Salomon and one more on the way; three brothers, Jeffery "Buck" Parker, Tim Parker and Barry Parker; and two sisters, Shannon Weatherly and Terry Murphy; as well as other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Leon Michael, Sr.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in North Carolina.
