James Douglas "Doug" Moats, Sr. passed away October 4, 2025 at his residence in Ola, Arkansas. He was born April 23, 1945 in Waverly, Kansas to the late Rev. John Marcus and Carrie Alma Washburn Moats. He was a retired printer for International Graphics and a member of the Arkansas National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John Kenneth, Haddon, Roberta Dean, Wayne, Alice, Elizabeth, Eva; and grandson-in-law, Zachary Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Clarenda Moats; two children, Doug, Jr. and Missy Moats, David and Debbie Moats; brother, Albert and Martha Moats; sister-in-law, Utako Wyley;

6 grandchildren, Mallory Coffman, Macey Davis, Matthew and Faith Moats, Michelle and Brandon Bird, Mason Moats, Chase Moats; 8 great grandchildren, Gavin Davis, Sadie Coffman, Caleb Davis, Jacob Davis, Everleigh Coffman, Isabella Davis, Wrenley Bird, and Madelyn Davis: several nephews, nieces, other family members, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Ola First Baptist Church with Pastor Drew Papasan officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, Plainview.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Matthew Moats, Mason Moats, Chase Moats, Brandon Bird, Gavin Davis, and nephew, Greg Jobe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jasper George and Greg Lynn.
