James Orlin Moermond M.D.

James Moermond M.D., of Antigo, died on August 13, 2024 at Rosalia Gardens. He was 83 years old and was born on July 18, 1941 in Spirit Lake, IA, to James and Lisette (Taylor) Moermond. He married Deborah Steinfest on September 29, 1972 at Polar.
James was a graduate of Buffalo Center High School in Iowa. He then attended the University of Iowa for his medical degree, attaining his degree at the age of 22. James began his career in Antigo at the General Clinic with Dr. Theodore Fox and Dr. John McKenna. He went on to have 48 years of employment at Aspirus Langlade Hospital as a Family Practice physician.
He served in the United States Army as a Captain and was stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas, Fort Sam Houston in Texas, and Korea.
James was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting and Langlade County Trapshooting Associations. An accomplished competitor, he shot in the Grand American and various State Trap competitions. James was an avid hunter, and a member of the Safari Club International.
Survivors include two sons, Jonas Moermond and James (Deborah) Moermond III of Chippewa Falls; three daughters, Jade Moermond of Antigo, Marcia Moermond of St. Paul MN, and Barbara Moermond of Madison; three grandchildren, Tessa, Tucker, and Taylor; two brothers, Kim Moermond of Sun Prairie, and Timothy C. Moermond of Sauk City; and two nephews, Jacob Moermond, and Timothy Taylor Moermond.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Sam Moermond.
