MULHERIN, James "Jim" – of Davison, Michigan, age 72, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Jeffrey Ruggles officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation in honor of Jim.
Jim was born on January 27, 1953, in Rector, Arkansas, to Johnnie "Bill" and Mary (Harmon) Mulherin. He married the love of his life, Susan Kern, on July 29, 1972, in Flint, Michigan. He was the proud owner and operator of Mulherin Trucking and later managed DeBuck's Sod Farm for ten years. He was a man of many talents and interests-an avid collector and operator of model trains, a skilled woodworker, and a natural tinkerer who found joy in fixing, building, and understanding how things worked. He had a generous spirit, always ready to lend a hand or share his time with others-friend or stranger alike and he was willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing, but nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family. Gifted with a logical mind and an intuitive sense of direction, he was known for his uncanny ability to know the time within two minutes without a watch and for having a built-in compass. More than anything, he loved to teach and share his knowledge with anyone eager to learn.
James is survived by wife, Susan Mulherin; daughter, Christina (Michael) Schwabauer; grandchildren: Jessica (Alexander) Mutch, Andrew (Mariah) Schwabauer, BriAnna (Daniel Turgeon) Schwabauer and Abigail Schwabauer; great grandchildren: Jackson Mutch, Adaline Mutch and Damon Schwabauer; siblings: Patricia Lemek, Johnny (Kathy) Mulherin, Michael (Marie) Mulherin, Sandy (Dave) Greanya, David Mulherin, Richard (Jennifer) Mulherin and Timothy (Sherri) Mulherin; many nieces and nephews and special nephew, Frank Lemek; special friends: Leonard Ruggles, Alan DeBuck, Fred Jackson, Philip Jelnick, Dave Minto, Dale and Anita Prior and Greg Mischel; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Dorothy Thon.
