James Nelson Obituary

Jim was a graduate of Drummond, WI high school and a US Army veteran. On May 24, 1986 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Mahoney in Mason. He was employed at Roffers Construction in Ashland as an engineer for many years. He loved to talk and tell stories as well as hunt, go boating, be in the outdoors and ride motorcycle. The greatest joy in his life, were his grandchildren, whom he loved very much.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Washburn; children: Kelly (Tom Zappa) Nelson of Cumberland, WI, Brett (Rena) Nelson of Iron River, WI, Kimberlee (Daniel Ballach) Nelson of Afton, MN, Kerri (John) Berglund of Ashland, WI and Amy (David) Dufek of Ashland; grandchildren: Derrick (Amy) Zappa, Jessie (Josh) Bushmaker, Derick (Maria) Wade, Kyle (Jordan) Nelson, Christopher (Olivia) Mathy, Tanner (Clara) Mathy, Makena Mathy, Cole Berglund, Wyatt Berglund, Mason Berglund & Chandler (Aaron) Berglund; Ten great-grandchildren and one brother, Dan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bob.
A Memorial Service for Jim will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, Jan 31, 2025 at the Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev Paul Simmons officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 pm of Friday at the funeral home in Ashland and continue until the hour of service.
Interment will be private.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen, WI.
