James was born in Oakland, CA and graduated from El Cerrito High School.
James married Susan Majuri in 1965 and immediately reported to duty with the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division and was shipped over to Vietnam. After serving his time in the war he came home to start a family in Pleasant Hill. James worked many years as an elevator constructor and was awarded a Certificate of Honor and a Gold Honorary Card by the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local Union 8, building elevators all over the San Francisco Bay Area. James was an avid hunter, umpire for the Pleasant Hill Little League and loved all nine of his German shorthaired pointers. James loved to travel, cruise, watch local sports teams and loved to Bar-B-Que in any kind of weather.
James is survived by his loving wife Susan of 59 years, devoted children, Kimberly, Kelly and Jimmy; grandchildren, Kylie, Fox, Mallory, Reese and Emily. James is also survived by his sisters Kathleen and Beverly and brother, Tom, daughter-in-law Shannon, son-in-laws, Chad and Robert.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service on Friday, July 19th at 11:00AM at Hull's Chapel, 1139 Saranap Avenue in Walnut Creek followed by a graveside service at Oakmont Memorial Park.

Susan & Jimmy, so sorry to hear about your husband/Father's passing . As a Vietnam Veteran also & a retired elevator constructor, it's very sad. My most sincere condolences to you & your whole family. He always had that wonderful & cheerful smile. We worked together somewhere over the 30 years I put in. Unfortunately due to my health conditions, I won't be able to attend his service.
But please know that I am there in spirit ! RIP James.....Scotty Laidlaw
