Additionally, Jim was deeply involved in supporting his daughter Kellie in her passion for horses, teaching her to ride and accompanying her as she competed in both the Pinto and Arabian horse circuits.
A lover of nature, Jim enjoyed rustic camping, gardening, and was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.

He is also survived by his stepchildren, Shawn (Matt) Erickson and their children Miriam and Owen, Brad (Stephanie) McKenna and their children Bennett, Levi, and Joel, and Nicole Pintrick with her children Ariana and Nico.
Jim is survived by his brothers, David (Lynda), Gilbert (Sharon), Alec (Geri), and Neil, as well as nephews Duane Orris, David Orris Jr., and nieces Shelly Blakely and Karissa (Seth) Roskind. He is also survived by his dear friend, Cliff Aldrich of Midland.
