Mr. James "Joe" Parler, age 83, passed away April 30, 2025, at Embrace Hospice of South Carolina. Mr. Parler was born July 26, 1941, a son of the late Thomas Harry and Mary Locke Blackwell Parler. In addition to his parents, Mr. Parler was also predeceased by one son: Joey Parler. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was also a member of the choir. Mr. Parler retired from Aynor High School where he taught school for 32 years. He was a founding member of the Theatre of the Republic in Conway, SC and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Parler is survived by his loving wife: Saundra Lockhart Parler; one daughter: Mary Parler Clark; two grandchildren: John R. Clark (Jessica Olin) and James W. Clark (Denise Clark); two great grandchildren: Eleanor and Joseph Clark; and one sister: Beverly Ford. Visitation for Mr. Parler will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM Friday, May 2, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Aynor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Trintiy United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill McCown and Rev. Mel Arant officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Joey Parler Scholarship Foundation, Aynor High School Attention: Joey Parler Memorial Scholarship, 201 Jordanville Road Aynor, SC 29511.
