James Howard Parsell of Caro, age 78, passed away peacefully on, Sunday, May 25, 2025, at United Hospice Service in Marlette. James was born April 11, 1947 in Caro, the son of the late Harry and Georgianna (Russell) Parsell. He graduated from Caro High School in 1965, went on to attend Olivet College where he obtained his Bachelor of Sociology and Psychology in 1971. James continued his education at Central Michigan University, Saginaw Valley State University, and taught Psychology at Great Lakes Junior College. He started his career working as a Milieu coordinator at Starr Commonwealth for Boys, went on to Genesee County Community Mental Health where he was administrative coordinator of the children's partial hospitalization program. James obtained his license as a nursing home administrator and ran the Genesee Skilled Care Center in Flint. He came back to Caro to work at the Regional Mental Health Center as program director. While in Caro, James was able to help many people in their time of need. He would work pro bono with many clients. James' heart was always in helping those in need and getting the care they needed. When James wasn't working, he enjoyed motorcycling, boating, and hunting. He was a proud member of Abate of Michigan, Motorcycle Riders Foundation, the Moose Lodge of Caro, and Michigan Confederation of Clubs. James had a zest for life and his kind, caring ways will be missed dearly.
James leaves to carry on his legacy, his children, Jamie Parsell Gorang and Brian Parsell; grandchildren, Jordan Martek, Jacob (Heather) Hickey, Kamden Gorang, and Keegan Gorang; and nieces, Georgie (John) Sanders, Suza (Larry) Griggs, and Andrea Parsell. Special thanks to Diane Hosking of Barnes Lake for all of our special time together. In addition to his parents, James was welcomed home to heaven by his brother, Stuart (Cecilia) Parsell; and nephew, Darryl Parsell.
