James Pate Obituary

Published by Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre - Madison Chapel on Oct. 25, 2004.
JAMES L. “JIM” PATE - A life-long resident of Madison, Mr. James L. Pate was a help to many as he served his community. Upon his graduation from North Madison High School in 1951, James went on to become a financial consultant; a career that spanned over the next 30 years. He worked with families to help them realize their dreams through the assistance of good, strong financial health and maintenance. Jim worked for Barclay American Financial’s Madison Office until his retirement in 1987. He had previously lived in Daytona Beach, FL and worked as a finance manager, as well as, a five year tenure as a sales consultant with Bennett Motors.

Regardless of his position or location, Jim’s goal was to help people fulfill their hopes and dreams. A loving family man, Jim married Janet L. (Kidwell) Pate in Scottsburg, IN on March 25, 1951 and was later blessed with the special love and bond of his daughter; Cindy. A strong Christian, Jim was a devoted member of the North Madison Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. Jim was also a member of the Madison Moose Lodge #765 and the Madison Jaycees serving as a past President. He enjoyed golfing, playing computer and card games, and especially enjoyed playing cards with his buddies at the Moose.

A loving family… Jim will be dearly missed by his loving and devoted wife Janet, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of his life; his loving daughter Cindy S. O’Neal and her husband Greg of Floyds Knob, IN. He will be remembered by his sister Marietta Preston and her husband Norman of Louisville, KY; his brother-in-law Vincent Niesse of Madison; his sister’s-in-law Thelma Shingleton of Madison; and Iva Pate Mull of New Albany, IN. Fond memories are cherished by his four grandchildren Brandon, Cameron, Lauren, and Gavin O’Neal, as well as, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
