James Patton Obituary

James Milton (Jamie) Patton, 68 passed away peacefully at his home on November 5, 2025. He fought a long hard battle with cancer for eight years and is now free and healed. He was surrounded by his brothers and sisters.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025, in the Bailey-Howard Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, one hour before the service. Burial will be private.

Jamie was born October 21, 1957, the sixth child of Jerry Max and Jon Ann Patton. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1976 where he was active in football and basketball. After graduation he started work at Abilene Diesel Injection Service. In 1992 he left ADIS to raise cattle and farm his land east of Clyde.

He taught himself to play guitar and could be found often on his front porch, guitar in hand playing while listening to his guitar hero Doc Watson. He could name any song you mentioned, and very likely, with a little prodding, pick it out on guitar for you if he was in the mood.

Jamie loved animals. Deer, turkey, hummingbirds and an occasional bobcat called Jamie's acres home. He named the deer and could tell you which baby belonged to which mother from birth and as the years passed. He reminded us all when it was time to put out the feed for the hummingbirds. Bird feeders and bird baths filled his front and backyard, and he became an avid bird watcher. He inherited a bird book and learned to identify any winged thing that passed through his place.

He was known as Uncle Milk to countless nieces and nephews and never met a baby he couldn't entertain for hours.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Max and Jon Ann Patton, his number one and most beloved sister Pat (Sis) Patton Hunt. Also preceding him were two nephews Micah Tate Lindstrom and Christopher Noice.

Jamie is survived by his brothers Mike (and Shaula) Patton and Buddy Patton of Clyde, and Chuck (and Amy) Patton of Abilene; his sisters, Peggy (and Doug) Noice, Pam (and Craig) Loper and Paula Patton, all of Clyde; twelve nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
