James Donald Paul, 96, of Wabash, Indiana, died 11:24 pm, Friday, August 22, 2025, at Parkview Wabash Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1929, in Wabash, Indiana, to Berman C. Paul and Ruth Helen (Rife) Cooper.
Jim was a 1947 graduate of Linlawn High School and was a US Navy veteran. He married Shirley Ann Sample at the Zion Lutheran Church in Wabash on October 29, 1955. Jim owned and operated Paul's Floor Covering in Wabash for 67 years, retiring in 2024. He was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Jim also belonged to the American Legion Post 15, and the V.F.W. Post 286, both in Wabash. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, yard work, and pulling the weeds in the woods. Jim was an avid sports fan and never missed his family's sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Paul of Wabash; four children, Daniel S. (Cheri) Paul of Wabash, David W. (Rhonda) Paul of Hilliard, Ohio, Diana R. Robison of Wabash, and Donald E. (Tamie) Paul of Logansport, Indiana, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Paul.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Chuch, 173 Hale Drive, Wabash, with Pastor Schieber officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., on Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Zion Lutheran Church.
