James Wesson "Wes" Phillippe, age 15, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Wes was a student at Somerset High School, where he diligently pursued his education. His youthful spirit was characterized by a love for adventure and a passion for sports. He thrived in wrestling and running track, often participating in local 5k events, embracing challenges both on and off the field. An avid enthusiast of four-wheeling, he found joy in the thrill of the outdoors and the companionship of loving animals.
Wes will be remembered not only for his adventurous pursuits but also for his unwavering loyalty to family and friends. He had a unique ability to offer sound relationship advice, a testament to his kind-hearted nature and deep understanding of the world around him. He held a special place in the hearts of his family, especially his mother, Marissa Handley, and his father, James Phillippe, who will carry his memory with love and pride.
He is survived by his parents, Marissa & (Ben) Handley and James Casey & (Kristie) Phillippe; five siblings, Isaac Goodin, Rachel & (Brandon) Kelly, Ben Handley III, Alicia Delvaux, and Justin Handley; paternal grandparents, Jim & Vicky Phillippe; maternal grandparents, Patricia & Matt Freels, Mike & Cheryl Childers and Joe Pinson; best friend, Gabe Dungan; and special friend, Bailee York.
He was preceded in death by maternal step-grandparents, Ben & Linda Handley; paternal step-grandparents, Richard & Charlcie Beyersdoerfer; and a brother-in-law, Erik Gajate.
A funeral service will be held at 1PM Saturday, March 8, 2025 in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Lynville Hatter officiating.
Burial will follow at Dunham Cemetery in the Walltown Community.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and after 9:00 AM until time for services on Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the memorial fund. You may do this directly through this website, by clicking on the link.
