James Proctor Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
James (Jim) Courtney Proctor, 88, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on August 7th, 2025.
James was born on September 21st, 1936, to Woodrow and Margaret in Missouri. He was the first in his family to attend college and earned his Master of Social Work. He dedicated his career to serving others as a psychiatric social worker, aids counselor, and hospice social worker, among other related fields.
Jim was a man of many loves: his family above all, along with his dogs, horses, and cats. He enjoyed watching old John Wayne western movies and liked "weird" cars. He was a quiet and serious man and he had the gentlest of hearts. He was a loving father who always wanted his children to have everything he believed they needed for a fulfilling and happy life. He loved to dote on his dogs, horses, and children.
He loved tracking and talking about the weather and had 21 different descriptions for different kinds of rain in the Pacific Northwest, where he eventually made his home after moving from California.
And there were always dogs-family dogs, personal dogs, dogs for the kids. Over the years, the Proctor household welcomed Collies, Irish Wolfhounds, Dalmatians, Golden Retrievers, Westies, Poodles, and many others, each one cherished.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Kathy Fey Proctor, who he met in Sacramento, CA; siblings Phyllis and Melanie; four children: Laurie, Jeff, Jenny, and Anne; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
