James “Jim” E. Purdy
September 14, 1934 – September 23, 2025
James “Jim” E. Purdy, 91, of Indianapolis, died on September 23, 2025. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Charles and Amelia Purdy. He was one of 5 children and had a twin sister. Jim grew up in Columbus, Indiana, where he graduated from Columbus High.
Jim attended Wabash College; where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi, and went on to serve his country for two years in the U.S. Army. In 1960, he earned his MBA from Indiana University. Jim founded Industrial Bearing Corp. in 1966, building a successful business that specialized in precision bearings for OEM accounts.
Beyond his accomplishments, Jim will be remembered most for his kind and genuine spirit. He lived with strength, humility, and a quiet humor that lifted those around him.
Jim is survived by his children Doug Purdy (Kim Pfeifer), Ginny Purdy Paskoff, and his granddaughter, Chloe Paskoff. His legacy lives on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
