James R. “Bobby” “Bo” Dexter, age 85, of Iuka and Southaven, Mississippi, peacefully passed away at his home in Southaven on January 19, 2025. Born in Iuka, Bobby was a proud graduate of Iuka High School, Class of 1958.
In June 1959, he married Linda Bryant, the love of his life, and the couple moved to Memphis that same year. Bobby dedicated 37 years of his professional life to Bemis Bag Inc. before embarking on a well-deserved retirement at the age of 57.
In 1972, Bobby and Linda cherished the opportunity to build their lake home, allowing them to enjoy many happy moments spent between both their residences. Above all, Bobby treasured the time spent with his family, who were his greatest joy.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Linda Bryant Dexter; their children, DeeAnna Davis and her husband Brad, Robert J. Dexter and his wife Zelda, and Darren S. Dexter and his wife Deidre. He also leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren: Dexter Ellexson and his wife Ashley, Max Ellexson, Devin Beam and her husband Bill, Collin Dexter, Dylan Dexter, and Dani Lee Dexter; and great-grandchildren Heidi, Wells, and Garrett. Bobby is also remembered by his sister, Clara Berryman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Lorene Dexter, as well as several siblings: William Dexter, M.G. Dexter, Aline Thorne, Travis Dexter, Kenneth Dexter, Richard Dexter, Jerry Dexter, and Linda Sue Reeves. He is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jackie Bryant (Burnette), his sister-in-law, Peggy Bryant Dexter and his son-in-law Scott Ellexson.
The arrangements for Bobby are entrusted to Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rev. Dallas Culver. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers honoring Bobby’s life will include Dexter Ellexson, Max Ellexson, Collin Dexter, Bill Beam, Dylan Dexter, Dennis Shea, Dane Degraw, and Keith Bryant.
