James Allen Redman of
Warsaw, Indiana passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the age of 83. He was a devout and active member of his community, leaving a legacy of faith, service, and a love for the simple pleasures in life.
He was born on June 2, 1942, in
Bourbon, Indiana to Anna Violet (Larson) Redman and Kenneth Morland Redman.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Bourbon High School where he excelled at baseball, basketball and track. That love of sports remained with him throughout his life. He was a hard-working man his entire career working in software and IT for Union Carbide/Praxair. Jim was always available for his family and more so after he retired.
Jim was blessed to have remarried on September 24, 2010, to Mary Wildman Coon Summy. They shared the past 15 years together enjoying time with their wonderfully blended family.
He enjoyed being available to attend as many of his grandchildren's activities that he was able to. Many wonderful hours were spent cheering his grandkids on at football, basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer games, band concerts, cross-country and track meets. Always encouraging and wanting to see them excel in everything they did in their lives. Jim even coached his own children growing up. Despite many family members graduating from Purdue University, Jim was a die-hard I.U. fan! He recently stayed awake for I.U.'s win at the Rose Bowl with a big thumbs up.
Jim was a wonderful man of God, a faithful worshipper who cherished his time with his church family at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. His passion for music led him to attend numerous musicals in Fort Wayne, South Bend and Warsaw. Known for his enduring love of ice cream, he had an adventurous spirit when it came to trying out new flavors. He would even travel to visit many ice cream stands or shops within a 100-mile radius. Jim always kept active and was a devoted member of the Leesburg Lions Club and generously volunteered his time delivering Meals on Wheels in the Milford area.
He will forever be lovingly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many. Jim leaves behind his wife, Mary Redman (
Warsaw, IN); his son, Kenneth (Rebecca) Redman (
Lafayette, IN), and his daughter, Melissa (Spencer) Justice (
Hoover, AL), both children of his first wife Brenda Redman (d. 2014); sons James (Mindy) Coon (Columbia City, IN) and Michael (Christine) Coon (
Warsaw, IN); and his daughters, Sara (Terry) Martin (
Warsaw, IN) and Rachelle Coon-Edwards (TX), all children of Mary. He also leaves behind his beloved twelve grandchildren, Lydia, Amanda, Alan, Tara, Tarissa, Sterling, Tori, Rachel, Mari, Corinne, Olivia, Ellis; twenty-two great-grandchildren; his sister, Shirley Hisey (
Warsaw, IN); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Jim's life will be celebrated with a service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High Street,
Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Aaron Klein. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Leesburg Cemetery, Leesburg, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road,
