JAMES A. “BUD” RICHARDS

James A. “Bud” Richards, 85, Clark, MO passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Aspire Senior Living Center in Moberly, MO. He was born August 13, 1939, in Boone County, Missouri, the son of the late Robert and Myrtle Jane (Colwell) Richards. On July 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marlyn (George) Richards, who preceded him in death on December 31, 2023.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four sons Terry Richards and Jean of Smithville, TX, Randy Richards and Carol of Centralia, MO, James Scott Richards and Delia of Kansas City, KS and Mark Richards and Cassie of Gallatin, MO; four daughters Robin King and Tim of Elgin, TX, Penny Vanlandingham of Clark, MO, Lisa Paige and John of Sturgeon, MO and Michelle Richards and Thomas of Columbia, MO; one brother Ed Richards and Flara of Sierra Vista, AZ; two sisters Ann Kelly and Gene of Sturgeon, MO and Mary “Snooky” Poettgen and Harry of Columbia, MO; eighteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; three sister in laws Peggy Richards of Centralia, MO, Shirley Richards of Austin TX and Karen Abbott of Tipton, MO; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife Marlyn; two brothers C.D. Richards and Darrell Richards; one sister Linda Sue Richards; a son in law Jack Vanlandingham and a sister-in-law Phyllis Smith preceded him in death.

Bud first worked as a farmer, later in construction for several years and the for the Missouri department of Natural Resources. After his retirement he would drive for the Amish community. He attended Sturgeon Baptist Church and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, travelling and attending auctions.
