WORCESTER: James M. (Jamie) Roach, 72, passed away peacefully in UMass Memorial Hospital on May 14, 2025 after a month’s long battle with Covid and pneumonia. He was born on January 5, 1953, in Worcester, and spent much of his life in and around the community he loved.

Jamie began his working life as a machinist in several factories in Worcester, and when manufacturing left the area he became a CNA and worked in nursing homes for many years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his patients and listening to their stories. He possessed a strong work ethic and could be counted on to do a thorough job. Jamie attended South High School and received his CNA certification from Quinsigamond Community College.

In his early years Jamie enjoyed fishing, especially at the former Auburn Pond with his friends and brothers. Jamie became an avid walker in his twenties, which continued throughout much of his life. He was a big fan of the New England Patriots and enjoyed watching games with his buddies at Herbie’s Sports Bar. He was known as someone who was loyal, friendly, generous and kind.

He is survived by his brothers: Rev. Francis J. Roach of Worcester, and Patrick J. Roach of Limestone, Maine. He also leaves behind several nephews, one niece, and great nephews and nieces, who will remember him fondly.

Jamie was preceded in death by his parents Francis X. Roach and Mary A. (Boyle) Roach, his sister Catherine M. "Katie" (Roach) Magnusson and his brothers Robert A., Michael T. and John P. Roach. The memories of his life will always be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

A Visiting Hour will be held Thursday, May 29 from 10 to 11am with a Prayer Service at 11am in Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery.
