James Robertson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 14, 2025.
Mr. James Morrison Robertson, AIA-E, born in Detroit, Michigan on August 9th, 1936 and went to see his Savior Jesus Christ on August 7th, 2025, just two days shy of his 89th birthday. James leaves behind his little sister Betty Ann Makely of Delaware, Ohio. He is reunited with the love of his life, Karen Annette Robertson, whom he adored. James is father of: Patti Jo Daugherty, Bettyann Motylewski (Richard), James Gault Robertson III, Robert Ross Robertson (Candy), and Carin Francis Cox (Elias). He is grandfather to Kiel Copeland, Erin Copeland (Brad), Christopher Mario Motylewski (Imani), Jenna Ann Krause, (Chris) Malissa Marie Motylewski, Matthew Richard Motylewski (Amanda), Ellis Cox, Bailey Cox, and great grandfather to Liliana Delene Patterson, Conner Michael Motoyama, Jason Tyler Krause, Sevyn Dakota Motylewski, Peyton Marie Krause, Kashton Richard Motylewski, and Sawyer James Cox. James was drafted and served two (2) years in the US Army. After basic training at Fort Ord, he continued on to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he learned how to be a radar operator/sound ranger. He served with the 3rd Armored Division "Spearhead", and was stationed in West Germany during the Cold War until his Honorable Discharge. James retired from First Interstate as an architect. James was an officer in Caledonian Club of San Francisco and was very involved with the Scottish Gathering and Games, being in charge of cattle. The games were a family affair for the Robertson Clan, as the children competed in Highland dancing and the bagpipes. James had a long-standing membership with the Saint Andrew's Society of San Francisco and was President of the Clan Donnachaidh Society of Northern California in 1991. James was a very social person as he entertained many guests at his famous Pier 39 annual party. He was a life long 49er fan and held season tickets for years at Keasar Stadium and Candlestick Park. When the 49ers moved to Santa Clara, he would religiously watch them on television from his home in Daly City.

A rosary at 10:30am with a Memorial Mass at 11:00am will be held on 9/27/2025 at St. Cecilia Church, 2555 17th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94116. A reception will follow at The Caledonian Club, 312 Maple Ave, South San Francisco, CA 94080
