James Roohan Obituary
SCHENECTADY - James B. Roohan, 72, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026, after a long and courageous battle. Born in Schenectady, N.Y., Jim was a graduate of St. Paul The Apostle Elementary School, Bishop Gibbons High School, and attended St. Bonaventure and Catholic Universities. After college, Jim was an award-winning salesman with Pacific Stereo, Loan Officer with Clyde Federal Savings of Chicago, and several manager roles with Radio Shack in the Albany, N.Y. area. In addition, James's love of faith and country earned him the 4th degree ranking and membership within the Knights of Columbus Council 173. James was an avid Star Trek, Dr. Who, Beatles, Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls, White Sox, Buffalo Bills sports fan, but his true passion was his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was always there to lend a helping hand whether it was to babysit, help with home projects, or the best roommate our father could have during his later years in life, and never asked anything in return. James was predeceased by his father, Raymond J. Roohan Sr.; mother, Alide E (Bibby) Roohan. He is survived by his sister, Alida Neumann (Dennis); brothers, Kevin Roohan (Nicole), Raymond Roohan (Dorothy); and nieces and nephews, Brian Neumann, Sara Neumann, Anthony Roohan, Brennan Roohan, Liam Roohan and Tricia Roohan. There will be a celebration of Jim's life on a date to be determined.

Jim was one of my best friends. Knew him starting from grammar school through high school and college. We were Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts together. Jim's mon was our Cub leader. Jim's father had the greatest collect of model airplanes. Jim and I were the go to altar boys for St.Paul's Church and we teamed up to do many funerals and wedding together. We hung out together after school during our grammar and high school days. We worked together on the high school newspaper, and Burger King as well. We both loved folllowing our sports teams , he especially loved the Cubs and Bears. Though we parted ways as we got older, we resently kept attached through Facebook conversations. Jim was a great guy and true friend. We'll miss you. God Bless

I knew Jim in grammar and high school. I thought he was a smart, sweet person and found that to be true when we were in `Barefoot in the Park´ together. I forgot my lines, he rescued the scene and never said a word. I´m very sorry for your loss.
