James Earl Roys, 81 of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on September 6, 1944, in Merkel, Texas. He was the son of Arthur and Ella Nell (Hejl) Roys. James went to sing with the angels at the foot of the throne of his Lord and Savior on February 20, 2026 at his residence in Elk City, Oklahoma.

He spent his younger life in Texas before moving to Elk City, Oklahoma in 1960, and graduating from Elk City High School in 1962. James married the love of his life, Carol Sue Allison, on December 8, 1962, in Tipton, Oklahoma. They spent fifty-five wonderful years of marriage together and raised three sons, James Rodney, David Wayne, and Steven Mark. Carol preceded him in death on January 30, 2018.

James worked for Shell Oil Company for twenty-six years and he and his family lived in several states during his employment including Arkansas, Michigan and Montana. In 1979, he and his family moved back to Elk City, Oklahoma to make their home. He retired from Shell in 1991. James then went to work for Wal-Mart in 1992. He worked there until 2013.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elk City, Oklahoma. James loved gardening, hunting and fishing.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the First Baptist Church, Elk City, Oklahoma. Dr. Russell Duck will officiate. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Cherishing his memory is two sons, David Wayne Roys and his wife, Brenda of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Steven Mark Roys and his wife, Amy of Tuttle, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his companion, Lila Sears of Elk City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betty Smith and her husband, Charlie of Mustang, Oklahoma, Linda Warren of Mustang, Oklahoma and many other relatives and friends.

James is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Sue Roys, his parents, Arthur and Ella Roys; son, James Rodney Roys; and sister, Maxine Perran.

Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church Remodeling Fund in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, P.O. Box 707, Elk City, Oklahoma 73648.
