James A. Ruch, 67, of Sylvania, Ohio, went to be with his Lord on March 21, 2025. Born on January 4, 1958, Jim was the cherished son of Richard and Genevieve Ruch and a beloved brother of five siblings. A proud 1976 graduate of Sylvania High School, he remained a loyal alumnus throughout his life.
Affectionately known as "Rocco," Jim dedicated many years to supporting the Sylvania Athletic Departments. For over fifteen years, the Athletic Directors at both Southview and Northview High Schools relied on Jim's unwavering commitment. He meticulously prepared the fields for every home football game across all levels and ensured everything was secure afterward. Jim's loyalty to the Sylvania schools was deep, and he looked forward to each football season. Beyond the gridiron, Jim was also a devoted fan of the Northview High School hockey program and worked for Coach James Cooper at the Tam O'Shanter facility.
A lifetime member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Sylvania, Jim generously served his church community for many years. He was a faithful usher and also took on custodial duties as a heartfelt contribution. Jim was always enthusiastic about a game of horseshoes and was usually the first one in line.
Jim loved his family, especially their holiday gatherings. His childhood memories included lively "performances" of Young Life skits with his brothers and singing with his cousins.
Jim is dearly remembered by his older brother, Ron (Joyce); his sister, Carol (Dave) Del Signore; and numerous dear cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Genevieve Ruch, and his brothers, Rich, Dave, and Walt Ruch.
The family warmly invites you to Jim's memorial service to be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6517 Brint Rd., Sylvania, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., with the service commencing at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Jim's honor to King of Glory Lutheran Church.
