James "Sam" Samarelli, Sr., passed away on June 1, 2024, at the age of 51. He was born on June 27, 1972, in Jersey City, NJ, and most recently resided in Seaside Heights, NJ.
Sam dedicated his life to serving his community. He was the Emergency Managements Director of Seaside Heights, overseeing disaster preparedness and response. Additionally, he proudly served as a firefighter since 1994, making a significant impact in safeguarding the lives and properties of his fellow citizens.
Throughout his career, Sam achieved numerous milestones and garnered the respect of his colleagues. He held the esteemed position of Chief of the Seaside Heights Fire Department from 2005 to 2012, leading his team with unwavering dedication and professionalism.
Sam was predeceased by his parents Onofrio and Angelina Samarelli and his brothers Anthony & Michael Samarelli. He is survived by his children Samantha Samarelli and James Samarelli Jr. of Seaside Heights. His brother Fredrick Samarelli and loving nieces and nephews.
Sam will always be remembered for his selflessness, bravery, and commitment to his community. His contribution to the Seaside Heights Fire Department and the Emergency Management team will forever be appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Seaside Heights Volunteer Fire Department.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 6, 2024 4:00pm – 7:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park.
