James Calvin Samuel, 85, passed away on January 7, 2023, at his home in Granbury, TX. He was born on April 30, 1937, in Grapevine, TX to Edward Samuel and Bertha (Sharp) Samuel.
James grew up in Texas. He graduated from Kennedale High School in Kennedale, TX. He joined the Army in 1960 and served for 2 years. He was honorably discharged in May of 1962 with a Marksman (rifle) and Good Conduct Medal. James returned to Lone Star Gas in the accounting department after his discharge. He worked for Reserve National Insurance for many years in sales and retired with them in a Regional Sales Manager position.
James married Sandra Crawford in 1961 in Fort Worth, TX. They were happily married for 47 years. He enjoyed golf and cooking steaks on the grill.
James was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Bertha Samuel, wife Sandra, and brothers Bill, Bob and Floyd Samuel.
James is survived by his son James (Sam) Samuel Jr. of Justiceburg, TX, son Curtis Samuel of Mansfield, TX, and daughter Teresa (Samuel) McClain and son-in-law Ernest McClain of Godley, TX; his brother, Loyd Samuel of Kennedale, TX; his grandchildren Trey Kirkpatrick, Jason Samuel, Aaron McClain and Miranda (McClain) Parrent; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home at 2:45 PM on Saturday 1/14/23. A visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home at 500 Kennedale Sublett Road in Kennedale, TX from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Friday 1/13/23. Burial will follow at the same location.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Interim Healthcare Hospice and The Cove at Waterview Assisted Living for all their support and help over the last few months.
He was a very loving father that will greatly be missed!
