James E. "Jim" Schell

James "Jim" E. Schell, 67, passed away in the comfort of his Fairview home on Thursday, October 26th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones following a courageous decade-long battle with cancer.
Born on July 14, 1956 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Paul and Mary Elizabeth (Hahn) Schell, Jim came to make Erie his permanent home, where he would eventually start a business and raise a family. After graduating from Tech Memorial High School, Jim began his career as a mechanic, working to realize his goal of owning and operating his own business. In 2015, Jim retired from his career as the co-owner/operator of Schell-Baroth Auto Center but continued to be actively involved in both the Siebenbuerger and St. Frances Ushers Clubs in Erie as well as the Holy Cross Church, and the Moose Lodge near his winter home in Fort Myers, Florida. An avid sports enthusiast, Jim enjoyed golfing, auto racing, and sports betting; but at the end of the day, nothing could beat enjoying an ice-cold Coors Light with a shot of BV in his backyard tiki bar with his wife, Tassy.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and beloved first wife Linda (Pangborn) Schell.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Theresa "Tassy" (Litz) Schell; his son, Paul Schell and wife Sarah; a daughter, Pamela "Pam" Schell; three stepchildren, Jessica, Steven, and Stacey; two sisters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Damon and husband Richard "Dick", and Patricia "Patty" Schell Hammer and fiancé Rollin; and a brother, Robert "Bob" Schell and wife Kathy. He will also be greatly missed by his three grandchildren, Anthony, Ayden, and Emma, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Monday, October 30th, 2023, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at the Burton Quinn-Scott Funeral Services West Ridge located at 3801 W. 26th Street Erie, PA 16506.
A funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Church located at 7100 West Ridge Road Fairview, PA 16415 on Tuesday, October 31st at 10am. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
