James “Jamie” Douglas Schroeder passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Mercy Hospital South, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Jamie was born in Jefferson City on December 31, 1965, to Stanley and Ruth Ann (Neville) Schroeder.
He graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1984, and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, and Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, where he studied sociology.
Jamie went on to work in the hotel and restaurant management field where he excelled as a cook, bartender, and manager. At the time of his death, Jamie was a manager at Frailey’s Southtown Grill, in St. Louis. He was a member of the Frailey’s family for over 25 years. He loved his job; and the staff and regular patrons were his family. His work ethic was exemplary, and he loved to serve others anyway he could. Jamie had high expectations of himself and set exceptional standards as an example to others.
In his youth, Jamie was very athletic and skilled at tennis, golf, baseball, bowling, and basketball and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. He a talented drummer and had a beautiful singing voice. Jamie was an animal lover and would feed and take in stray cats that would turn up at Frailey’s. Jamie was selfless, generous, and humble. He lived simply and gave easily to others.
Jamie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his older brother John Schroeder and his wife Sherry of Seattle, Washington; two nieces—Madeline and Emma Schroeder, also from Seattle; younger sister Jo Ann (Schroeder) Dent and her husband Brian of Jefferson City; one aunt—Alice Neville of Columbia, Missouri; numerous cousins; and his Frailey’s family—Christine Hoemeyer, Nick Hoemeyer, and Tina Long, all from St. Louis.
Visitation will be Friday, March 3, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Trimble Funeral Homes - Jefferson City. A graveside service will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jamie’s name to Mercy Health Foundation South, at 10010 Kennerly Road, in St. Louis or online at mercyhealthfoundation.net.
