Published by Legacy on Mar. 20, 2024.
James Fullmer Selander, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 19, 2024 in Clearfield, Utah. Jim was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 17, 1939 to Dorthy Fullmer Selander and Hyrum Monroe Selander. He was the youngest of three children. His family moved to Spokane, Washington when he was 15 where he attended high school and met his wife Judy there. They were married in 1958.
He moved back to Utah for his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah and then off to Georgetown University in Washington DC for his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He practiced dentistry in Virginia for over 2 decades. After Judy passed away in 1995, he eventually moved to Port Angeles, Washington where he practiced dentistry for another 20 years. He graciously helped numerous people establish careers throughout his life. Jim valiantly battled Parkinson's Disease for several years and in 2022 he moved into assisted living in Clearfield, Utah.
He is survived by his four children, Alan B. Selander(Elizabeth), Ann B. Selander, David B. Selander(Paige), and Alison B. Christensen(Brad). He has 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Jim had an impeccable work ethic. His success came from his dedication to working hard and never giving up. He loved to get in a good cardio workout or lifting weights in the morning before work. He exercised and lifted weights until shortly before passing.
Thank you, Dad. We love you.
