Livermore, ME - James Thomas Sharpe, 71, of Livermore, ME, passed away on February 24, 2025. Born on March 3, 1953, in Newark, NJ, James grew up in Matawan, NJ, before building a life filled with love, hard work, and friendship.
James spent his career as a conductor for Amtrak, guiding passengers safely along their journeys until his retirement in 2018. Upon retirement, James and his wife Polly moved to their favorite place in the world, Western Maine, where the landscape gave them endless adventures. He had a deep appreciation for the past, finding joy in classic cars and old movies-things that reminded him of a simpler time.
While his journey was not always easy, his heart was always in the right place. Throughout his life one thing remained unwavering: his love for his family. He was especially proud of his children and nine grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and whom he adored beyond measure.
James will be remembered for the kindness he showed, the stories he told, and the love he gave. His family and friends will forever hold onto the good memories, the laughter, and the time they shared.
James was predeceased by his father, James and his brothers William and Thomas.
James is survived by his loving mother, Mary of Hutchinson Island, FL, his wife of 25 years, Mary (Polly) of Livermore, ME, his son and daughter in law, Thomas and Jennifer of Manasquan, NJ, his son and daughter in law Patrick and Shannon of Brielle, NJ, his step daughter Angela and her husband Sean Lane of Hazlet, NJ, his step daughter, Jennifer and her husband Jeff Rinkowski of Matawan, NJ, his sister and brother in law, Catherine and William Accordino of Manasquan, NJ, his sister and brother in law, Mary Diane and Dave Krause of Howell, NJ and his brother and sister in law, Charles and Kimberly Sharpe of Holmdel, NJ. James is also survived by his nine grandchildren: James, Thomas, Stephen, Sarah, Ryan, Summer, Sean, Aiden and Raina. James deeply cared for his nieces and nephews holding each of them close to his heart.
James is now at peace, and his loved ones take comfort in knowing his struggles are over.
A visitation will be held at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave in Manasquan, NJ on Saturday, March 1, 2025, starting at 11:30am with a funeral mass to follow at 12:00pm at St. Denis.
James had a love for animals, especially his goodest boy, Willie. So in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in James's honor to: Saint Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ: www.sthuberts.org, where James adopted Willie.
May James rest in peace, surrounded by the classic cars and old movies he loved.
